Next week’s Halloween, and you know what comes after that — Thanksgiving!
I am personally thankful for so many things, one of which is my health. Unfortunately, not everyone is so lucky, and that’s where Community Servings comes in. This amazing organization prepares and delivers 9,250 lunches and dinners each week to the homes of almost 875 individuals and families who are homebound with an acute life-threatening illness. Pie in the Sky makes this possible.
“What is Pie in the Sky,” you ask?
Each November since 1993, Boston’s best restaurants, bakeries, caterers and hotels donate thousands of pies that over 700 volunteers then sell to family, friends and colleagues. Each pie costs $28, providing a week’s worth of hearty home-delivered meals to a Community Servings’ client and a tasty Thanksgiving treat to the buyer.
I know that this time of year especially, we are all bombarded with requests for donations from many worthy organizations, so I want to tell you that one of the best things about this fundraiser is that 93 cents of every dollar goes directly to feeding Community Servings’ clients — this is super high efficiency for a charitable organization. And who else is going to give you a pie for your donation? 🙂
So if you can spare $28 dollars, please make a donation to support this great cause — and if you don’t want the pie, you can give it to a friend or donate it to one of Community Servings’ client families.
