It feels semi-surreal to see the entire Green Line Extension finally up and running after soooo much time. And people are excited! Apparently the pre-dawn inaugural run on Monday was packed, and when I went by the Ball Square Station later that day to see it for myself, there was a giddy little throng of people snapping pix.
In case you're from away or somehow have managed to ignore all the press in recent years, here's the map:
Because Somerville is such a small dense city, this new coverage puts everyone within about a 12-minute walk to a station (per the mayor). Pretty cool.
Alas, the extension of the Community Path is not quite done yet, but I guess that gives us something to look forward to in the new year.
