The Harvard Complex — Still Growing…


Living in Cambridge often feels like living in the middle of a college campus, especially in September, when the students flood back in after their summer breaks. And if you ever read the “Town Gown” reports, you’ll know why — between Harvard, MIT, Lesley and Cambridge College, our local universities cover nearly 500 of our 4,000 city acres (and more than 10,000 parking spaces, btw, but I digress…). But did you ever wonder how it came to be this way, and more importantly, whether the rest of the city will some day be swallowed up by one of these venerable institutions?
