Where to Eat & Drink Outside in Cambridgeville

Bloc 11 Patio, Union Square

Since the weather has been surprisingly consistently wonderful this summer, we have ample opportunity to try ALL the great Cambridgeville restaurants, cafes, and bars where we can enjoy our meals and libations al fresco. I’m not even going to attempt an exhaustive list, but here are some of my favorites — would love to hear yours!

Area Four — sidewalk dining for lunch and dinner in Area Four, obviously 😉 The lawn area at 500 Tech Square also has moveable Adirondack chairs if you just want to grab a coffee or snack at the cafe and sit on the lawn. Alexandria Real Estate also runs a summer concert series there too!

Atwoods Tavern — the hidden patio at this great East Cambridge pub is a great place to enjoy a beer or dinner.

Bloc 11 — get your coffee, breakfast or lunch at this great Union Square cafe, where you can grab an umbrella table in the courtyard or an interior window seat, which almost feels like being outside. They occasionally play movies in the summer too.

Firebrand Saints — the wide sidewalk at this Kendall Square restaurant/bar (under same ownership as the awesome Central Kitchen, btw) has plenty of picnic tables to accommodate the hopping after work crowd they draw. And the food is fantastic.

Legal Seafoods Patio Bar — I know Legal’s is kind of generic and touristy, but the Harvard Square location at the Charles Hotel has a huge outdoor bar and patio — on Sundays, it’s a great place to grab a drink after you stock up at the farmers market there AND your dog can join you 🙂

Oleana — be prepared to drop some cash, but in my opinion, there’s no more romantic spot than outside under the tree at this great spot just outside Inman Square.

Want more? Eater Boston recently posted a great list of 70 (!!) Boston-area restaurants with patios — that oughta keep you all of us busy for a while…
